My name is Thuy Duong. I am 18 years old. Currently, I am studying at the London School – Campus 10 in District 2.
I’m proud to say that studying here is one of the best experiences in my life. In the past, English was my enemy. Every Monday was a nightmare to me because that was when I had to study English at school. I couldn’t understand anything in the class. My heart wanted to jump out of my chest whenever my English teacher asked me to answer questions – even the easiest ones. I was jealous of those who studied English well in my class. I kept asking myself why I couldn’t get good results in this subject. I was so disappointed about myself that I asked my Mom if I could go to an English centre to improve my English.
Luckily, she was very supportive. One of our family members referred me to this school. At that time, it had just been opened for several months and was not really popular in my area. But I was curious about the phrase “LEARN ENGLISH FROM THE SOURCE” in the first place when I came by. Then I went there to learn about the programs and took the entrance exam. My English capacity has completely changed since that day. I found the passion for English at the moment I talked to my examiner who was a native speaker from London. I figured out the reason why English was a compulsory subject at school and why I should focus on this interesting subject.
I started from such basic knowledge as: tenses, comparatives, vocabulary, etc. My teacher explained my weaknesses clearly and gave me some tips to make English my friend. Of course, it was really hard at first to study English as a beginner again at the age of 16. There were times I thought about giving up. But my teachers always encouraged and motivated me to keep going although they are very strict sometimes. Thanks to their encouragement, I was determined to try harder. Every day I went home feeling happy and proud of myself because I had learned something new.
Time passed by and my English has remarkably improved. Now, after 2 years of working hard, I can not only speak English accurately and confidently but also always get good grades at school. I am aware that I am still very far from the destination I need to reach in my English study but I have definitely become a much better version of myself.I now even dare to dream a big dream that is studying abroad after graduating from high school. I believe that I can make it. From the bottom of my heart, I want to say ‘Thank you’ to all of the teachers at the London School. Thank you very much for your patience and motivation you have given me. I wish you perfect health, great success and good luck in the career you have chosen.
